
Woods are the fibrous hard structural tissue which is found
in the tree’s root and stem. From thousands of years woods are used as the source
for fuel and also for the construction. As they are good insulator of heat that
is the reason they are mostly used in the cottage for many months in colder
regions. Different types of wood are used to make furniture and the quality of
the woods depend on the type of wood used. Different colors and textures of the
wood give different beauty to the furniture.

Hardwoods:
As the same itself describes hardwoods are hard in nature as
well as they have the complex structure as compared to softwoods. The main
difference between the two types of woods is the presence of pores in the
hardwood. They are produced by the angiosperm trees and consist of broader
leaves. They are used for making musical instruments also. Earlier hardwoods
were available in very large quantity but now it has been diminished. They are
used for crafting furniture also.
Types of Hardwoods:

Oak wood: It is red or
white in color. Red oaks are basically known as the black oak. It is mostly
grows in United States. It is light in color and also heavy and strong wood. It
is used for crafting transitional pieces.

species of maple are found in United States. They are shock resistant and very
hard. Used in crafting colonial furniture ranging from lower to high price.

Cherry wood: Cherry wood is
a well known wood also called as the fruitwood. These types of woods are
generally grows in the Eastern half of United States. They are available in
light brown and red brown in color.

Ash wood: It is available
in white, black, blue and light brown colors. They are very hard, heavy and
twisted kind of wood. Used in crafting structural frames.
Softwoods:
Softwoods are the woods which are very soft and are easily
available. They are widely used as they are available in affordable price.
Their growth rate is very high.
Types of Softwoods:

Pine wood: Pine wood is
available in white or pale yellow colors. It is soft and light weighted wood.
They are generally used for crafting provincial furniture.

Redwood: They are red in colors.
They have the ability of resistance to deterioration due to sunlight and
insects. Used in decorative carvings. This kind of wood is resistant to decay.

Cedar woods: They are
generally red-brown in color. They are soft, moth repellent and aromatic. They
